A RICH HISTORY

Where Passion & Persistence Prevailed

Humble Beginings

In the spring of 2000 the community residents of the Little Village neighborhood decided to take action and advocate for their children's education. After a nineteen-day hunger strike their voices were heard and a new high school was promised. Almost four years later, in the fall of 2005, the Little Village Lawndale High School Campus opened its doors to four hundred students!

1 Campus, 4 Schools

The campus is comprised of four autonomous small schools. Each school has its own principal and teaching staff with each school housing approximately 385 to 400 students from both North Lawndale and Little Village neighborhoods.

This model was born out of surveys that the parent activists carried out. Their findings revealed that parents wanted a safe, small, and academically rigorous place for their children.

Small School Vibe

With Large Campus Benefits

While each school is unique, we share core facilities including the library, swimming pool, courtyards, auditorium, dance studio, gyms, and health center. This was designed to give students the advantage of a tight-knit school environment without sacrificing the advantages of a larger facility.

The campus is also united under one mascot: The Phoenix, sharing all athletics sports, clubs and other after school activities.
